I admit, when my roommate told yesterday that she had seen a black rat scamper across the apartment floor in the middle of the night, I thought she was hallucinating. But to calm her ratphobia we baited a trap with a juicy hunk of steak, she slept at a friend's and I spent the night in the apartment, on rodent patrol. Much to my dismay, I awoke this morning to find a terrified, trembling field mouse trapped in the rat cage, his little mouth too narrow to even get a piece of meat. Today the trap is reset under the sink. Ready for action.
